Killorglin is a goat worshipping merchant town, Kilgarvan is the home of the Healy Raes. Kilgarvan consists of the local pub, garage, shop post office and plant hire business all owned by the Healy Raes and a couple of dozen houses that their staff and captive customers live in.

In the last two weeks both the Phoenix and now the Village Magazine have referred to the Healy Rae as being concerned first and foremost with the potholes of Killorglin. They aren’t, they’re concerned with the potholes of Kilgarvan. I come from Killorglin and while we do indeed annually crown a goat as our king for the 3 days of Puck we were not in the habit of electing one to the Oireachtas for years on end. So I’d love if people could remember which is which, Killorglin is home to a goat King 3 days a year, Kilgarvan sends one to Dublin most weeks on the train.

Amazing that people are ending up here looking for information about the water situation in Artane and Coolock. This is the best source of information I can source at the moment. If I find anything else I’ll update this post.

Just think what I’d be able to provide if only ye voted for me. :-)

Local Elections Predictions – 2009

// May 29th, 2009 // No Comments » // Fianna Fail, fine gael, green party, labour

I think that the share of the national vote will be as follows

FF will get 25%

FF will get 33%,

Greens 3%

Labour15%

SF 8%

Independents 15

I think that FF will stay just over the 250 seat mark. FG will gain about 20 plus seats, Labour would gain 30 plus,  SF will gain a half a dozen seats nationally but could lose a few high profile gains from last time in particular in Dublin where there has been so much churn in the candidates from 2004. Greens will drop under 10 seats. Independents to have a good day but some high profile people will lose out. I expect Michael ‘the stroke’ Fahy to lose and indeed at least one of the Healy Raes could lose out.
